Care Instructions:

At Orion Sky, all of our jewelry is handcrafted with care and high quality materials, but please keep in mind that they are also delicate and need to be cared for correctly in order to help your jewelry last as long as possible.

We us 14-24K gold filled materials and some 24K gold-plated findings which offers a cheaper solution to real gold but are still amazing quality metals that are tarnish resistant and will not turn your skin green.

 

Gold Filled: This is where layers of solid gold (14K, 18K, 24K) sheets are wrapped around a base metal. This process involves mechanically bonding the gold to the core through extreme pressure and heat. This makes for jewelry that doesn’t tarnish peel, chip or discolor. The base metal will not ever come in contact with the skin so it is a better option for people with sensitive skin. 

Gold Plated: This process is where a base metal is dipped into a solution that contains gold and is zapped with and electric current. An electrochemical reaction occurs that deposits a thin layer of gold onto that metal. 

 

Most of our options are gold filled because it is more resilient than gold plated and lasts a lot longer as it is more durable. We strive to offer you jewelry that will endure the test of time so follow these tips for proper care:

 

♡ Please avoid chemical solutions, perfumes, seawater and/or pool water. Salt water and chlorine can damage the jewelry and erode the finish and polish of gemstones

 

♡ Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming or exercising and wipe completely dry after coming in contact with the moisture

 

♡ Allow lotions, perfumes and creams to be absorbed into skin before putting on your jewelry. Lotions and sprays create a film on the jewelry, making it dull and dingy

 

♡ When your not wearing your jewelry, store it in a cool, dry place to prevent oxidation, scratching, or chains getting tangled.
